Guide for Authors
Submission of Manuscripts
Manuscripts must be written in English and submitted electronically in Microsoft Word format to Editor. Authors and reviewers will receive all correspondence by email. For the peer-review process, authors must include a cover letter to the editor, title page (including complete author contact information), and blind manuscript (no name anywhere on the manuscript).
Manuscripts are accepted for review with the understanding that no substantial portion of the study has been published or is under consideration for publication elsewhere, and that its submission for publication has been approved by all of the authors. Articles and any other materials published in Bemaadizing represent the opinions of the author(s) and should not be construed to reflect the opinions of the editor, the journal, or the University of Minnesota Duluth. The contents of this page have not been reviewed or approved by the University of Minnesota
Authors should follow the instructions given in the Fifth Edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association. Manuscripts that do not adhere to these guidelines may be returned without editorial review. Manuscripts should be double-spaced throughout with margins of at least one inch on each side. Pages should be numbered consecutively and organized as follows:
- Title Page
- The title page should include (a) the article title; (b) the authors’ names and affiliations at the time the work was completed; (c) the first author’s email address, telephone number, and mailing address; (d) a concise running title.
- Abstract Page
- An abstract of no more than 100 words should accompany each paper. Avoid abbreviations, diagrams, and references to the text. After the abstract, a list of up to 5 keywords that will be useful for indexing or searching should be included.
References and Style
Bemaadizing uses American Psychological Association style guidelines for manuscripts, tables, figures, and references. Illustrations submitted (line drawings, halftones, photos, etc.) should be digital files of the highest quality and should follow these guidelines:
- 300 dpi or higher
- EPS, TIFF, or PSD format only*
- Submitted as separate files, not embedded in text files*
- Diagrams/Graphics/Images/pictures submitted must meet Fair Use as defined by the US Copyright Office
Good quality files should be provided to their final form and size. The editor has the right to refuse publication of files deemed unacceptable due to size, quality or content.
*Manuscripts created in Adobe InDesign can be submitted as an InDesign Package.
Copyright
Upon acceptance of an article, authors sign copyrights to Bemaadizing for online use of the article. Authors maintain rights to further publish from the basic article utilizing feedback from readers.
A letter will be sent to the first author confirming receipt of the manuscript. If accepted, the author will be sent proofs by email. To avoid delay in publication, only necessary changes should be made, and proofs should be returned promptly.
